Marvel Super Heroes Commander: Best Cards & Precons

Galactus, Devourer of Worlds MTG proxy card

Marvel Super Heroes Commander (MSC) is the Eternal-legal companion to the main Marvel Super Heroes set — legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage, released alongside the main set on June 26, 2026. Unlike The Hobbit, Marvel got the full precon treatment: four ready-to-play Commander decks, plus a wider pool of new legendary creatures available through Jumpstart boosters, Collector Boosters, and the wider MSC card pool.

This guide covers how the four precons break down and the standout cards worth knowing, in or out of the box.

The Four Marvel Super Heroes Commander Precons

  • Avengers Assemble (Jeskai — white/blue/red) is a Hero typal deck built on Equipment and +1/+1 counters, led by Captain America, Team Leader, who buffs every Hero entering the battlefield with vigilance, haste, and counters. The most straightforward, beginner-friendly of the four — go wide, buff the team, attack.
  • Wakanda Forever (Selesnya — green/white) pairs the Monarch mechanic with an artifact-and-Vibranium package, led by T'Challa, the Black Panther, who generates Vibranium tokens on entry and when attacking.
  • The Fantastic Four (four colours, everything but black) is the most ambitious list, letting you choose between four foil commanders — Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, or The Thing — built around noncreature spells and copying triggered abilities.
  • Doom Prevails (Grixis — blue/black/red) is the villain deck, led by Doctor Doom, King of Latveria and built around the connive mechanic and life drain, with a suite of villain-typal support.

Most Marvel Super Heroes Commander decks include 29 new-to-Magic cards, while The Fantastic Four includes 26 because it ships with four different foil face commanders. Beyond the four decks themselves, MSC also introduced a wider pool of legendary creatures and standout cards across the Commander product line — the cards below are drawn from that wider pool.

Galactus, Devourer of Worlds — A Ten-Mana Finisher With Built-In Removal

Galactus, Devourer of Worlds MTG proxy card

A ten-mana 12/12 with flying, trample, and indestructible, Galactus exiles one target permanent the moment he enters — creature, land, artifact, anything. His downside is built into the flavour: he must attack whichever opponent has the most life each combat, unless you also control a creature named Silver Surfer, Galactus's Herald, which removes that restriction entirely.

He is exactly the kind of build-around villain Commander tables love — a genuine finisher once you can reduce his cost or cheat him into play. Browse the Galactus proxy.

Doctor Doom, Unrivaled — An Empty-Library Win Condition

Doctor Doom, Unrivaled MTG proxy card

A four-mana 4/4 with lifelink, Doctor Doom, Unrivaled taps to draw a card and lose 1 life — and if that empties your library, you win the game outright, even if the draw itself didn't happen. A genuinely different kind of win condition for a Commander deck willing to draw its way to victory rather than attack for it.

Why Proxy These Cards Instead of Buying the Originals?

A precon-heavy release like this creates its own price pressure — chase reprints inside a popular precon often see their standard printings dip once the precon's contents are confirmed, while foil and showcase treatments of the deck's own new cards climb. None of that reflects what Wizards charges for the box itself.

A high-quality proxy lets you enjoy the same gameplay role at casual tables — while the chase originals can sit safely in a collection instead of getting shuffled, bent, and spilled on every game night. We go deeper into that logic in our guide on hybrid proxy decks.

Responsible Proxy Use

As with every proxy card, transparency matters. These proxies should be used for casual play, deck testing, collection, or display — not to deceive players, stores, marketplaces, collectors, tournament organisers, or authentication services.

If a proxy card is ever shown, traded, gifted, sold second-hand, or otherwise transferred to another person, its unofficial nature must be clearly disclosed. High-quality proxies are at their best when they make casual games more accessible, not when they are misrepresented as original cards.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Marvel Super Heroes Commander precons are there?

Four: Avengers Assemble (Jeskai, led by Captain America, Team Leader), Wakanda Forever (Selesnya, led by T'Challa, the Black Panther), The Fantastic Four (four colours, with a choice of four foil commanders), and Doom Prevails (Grixis, led by Doctor Doom, King of Latveria).

Can I choose which commander to use in The Fantastic Four precon?

Yes. That deck ships with four different foil legendary creatures — Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing — and you can build around whichever one fits your playstyle.

What happens if Doctor Doom, Unrivaled empties my library?

You win the game immediately, even if the activation that emptied it didn't actually draw you a card that turn. It's one of the more unusual win conditions in the set, turning a repeatable card-draw ability into a genuine alternate path to victory.

Are these proxy cards tournament-legal?

No. Proxy cards are intended for casual play, deck testing, collection, and display — not for sanctioned events or official tournaments. Always check with your playgroup, store, or event organiser before using proxies.
